The Southeast Championships Return to Palm Beach!

Since 2009, Prospect Wire has been in the tournament business. While starting as strictly showcases, the ’09 summer would see Prospect Wire make the jump into tournaments. The first of those was the Florida State Finals, a roughly 20 team event that was held at the Santalucces Complex in Lake Worth, FL. The event was a milestone for Prospect Wire, bringing the company into the spotlight for showcase tournament options.

“That first year, we just wanted to do something different that other groups were not. So we had giant lineup boards where we constantly kept the currently lineups so scouts and parents could see. We kept pitching velocities and posted them the next day. It was hard work for the staff, but the response we got from teams and parents was great,” stated Prospect Wire President Brian Werner. “We even went through box scores manually and had leaderboards. Lot of late nights back then, but it was worth it to our customers and what got our foot in the travel baseball door.”

After 3 years, the Florida State Finals moved to a location that could hold more teams in one area. Sarasota became home to the event, with it even growing larger enough to include fields in Port Charlotte & Bradenton for a time. After a few years of that, the event moved to Sanford, FL and the brand new Boombah Sports Complex in Seminole County. The event continued to thrive until COVID unfortunately halted operations.

When 2021 rolled around, post COVID, the event needed a new home. After a 1 year stint in Polk County, the event moved back to Palm Beach county and the gorgeous Ballpark of the Palm Beaches, now named CACTI. Now called the Southeast Championships, the event kicks off June for PW Baseball and brings over $1 million in economic impact to the city of Palm Beach! With a talented field of teams already registered and more coming each week, the event is shaping up to be another successful partnership for Prospect Wire & the Palm Beach Sports Commission.

“The Palm Beaches are thrilled to work with Prospect Wire and host their tournaments. Youth baseball is a vital part of Palm Beach’s DNA and Prospect Wire is at the top of the list in commitment to its athletes, their families, and our local community. Prospect Wire continues to excel by offering first-class events that deliver for their participating teams and their host communities,” remarked Gillian Constable, Sports Event Manager with the Palm Beach Sports Commission.
