New seating in center section, accessible platform added and first fully accessible restroom. ABOUT: The Byrd Theatre has been independently operated since first opening its doors Dec 24, 1928. In 2007, The Byrd Theatre Foundation formed to revitalize the theatre as a center for film, expanding the big screen experience, celebrating the art of cinema and preserving Virginia's grand motion picture palace.
