Opelika Municipal Park

Municipal Park in Opelika is a community space where Rocky Brook Creek runs through shady trees, making it a peaceful spot for picnics and play. The park includes a gazebo, picnic shelter, and the Rocky Brook Rocket, an antique miniature train that runs seasonally and is available for private rentals. Summer time brings extra fun with Summer Swing, a free weekly concert series hosted by the Opelika Parks and Recreation Department. One of the park’s most iconic features is the Salem-Shotwell Covered Bridge, a 43-foot Town Lattice truss bridge originally built in 1900 and carefully relocated to the park in 2007 after storm damage. Today, it stands as a charming historic landmark, maintained by the Opelika Kiwanis Club and the City of Opelika.
