Opelika Municipal Park

Rocky Brook Creek winds through this scenic city park, making it an ideal spot for a relaxing picnic. The park features a shelter, a gazebo with picnic tables, and the popular Rocky Brook Rocket—an antique miniature train that offers seasonal rides and is also available for private rentals. One of the park's highlights is the Salem-Shotwell Covered Bridge, a historic structure relocated in 2007. Originally built in 1900, this 43-foot-long Town Lattice truss bridge was one of only five covered bridges in Alabama constructed before 1950. After being destroyed by a fallen tree in 2005, it was carefully rebuilt at the park. The bridge is now maintained by the Opelika Kiwanis Club and the City of Opelika.
