American Red Cross, International WeLoveU Foundation, and Wintrust Sports Complex joined forces this past weekend to host the 2025 Mega Blood Drive—and the results were nothing short of remarkable.
Thanks to the dedication of organizers, volunteers, and community members, the event exceeded expectations, collecting 319 units of blood—138% of the original goal of 230 units. Among these were 118 Power Red donations (37%) and an incredible 233 first-time donors (70%) who stepped up to make a difference.
The drive also made significant strides in community health initiatives, welcoming 79 African American donors (24.7%) in support of the Sickle Cell Initiative and 149 Hispanic/Latino donors (46.7%) as part of the Latino Engagement Initiative.
“These numbers reflect more than just statistics. They represent lives saved and communities strengthened,” said Kimberly Bohne of the American Red Cross. “We are truly grateful for this partnership and the meaningful impact it created.”
Special thanks were extended to the entire WeLoveU Foundation team for their leadership, and to Jennifer Quinlan and her staff at Wintrust Sports Complex for their warm hospitality and professionalism.
This successful collaboration stands as a powerful example of what can be accomplished when organizations and communities come together—and sets the stage for future life-saving efforts.
