Fun Facts 

  • President Ulysses S. Grant was born in Clermont County in Point Pleasant, Ohio in 1822. This year, the county celebrated the bicentennial of his birthday throughout the month of April.
  • Clermont County is part of the historic national underground railroad and has its own Freedom Trail with over 40 historic sites.
  • The county has several additional trail experiences including the Land of Grant Trail and Pizza Trail. The complete list of trails can be found here.
  • Many attractions are set along the Ohio River – the village of New Richmond, with plenty of restaurants along the water, and Great American Ball Park, home of the Cincinnati Reds. Events also take place in the river, like the annual Ohio River Paddlefest.
  • Clermont County plays host to unique sports, including canoeing, rowing and flag football.

Elite Athletics – This newly renovated multipurpose indoor venue is well equipped to host a variety of indoor sporting events, including basketball, volleyball and pickleball. Elite Athletics boasts 64,000 sq ft of space with high-quality courts and flooring. The venue also features indoor pitching and batting tunnels as well as indoor soccer turf perfect for small games, training or clinics.  

Flash Baseball ComplexFlash Baseball Complex is a stunning youth baseball complex located in Hamersville, Ohio. This property truly has it all, with amenities including ten fields with wooden fences and grass infields, an onsite restaurant and arcade, outdoor batting cages, a swimming hole and fishing lake, 7,000 sq ft of indoor, climate control turfed and netted training facility and cabins & lodging. Flash Baseball Complex owners Michael & Pamela Daly opened the complex in their very own backyard to provide local youth the opportunity to play baseball. 

Nothin’ But Net – On the east side of Cincinnati, Nothin’ But Net is the premier 36,000 sq ft facility for court sports. The venue boasts 5 hardwood courts primarily used for basketball, volleyball and futsal. Nothin’ But Net offers portable baskets with competition break away flex goals that can be adjusted from 6 feet to 10 feet for all levels of play. 


Notable Events 

American Canoe Association 2022 Sprint National Championships – The American Canoe Association will host its 2022 Sprint National Championships from August 1-5, 2022 in Clermont County. This will be Clermont County’s first time hosting the event which is slotted to bring in 350+ athletes from across the country. To cap off the event, the Ohio River Paddle Fest will take place on August 6 for recreational paddlers. The largest paddling celebration in the nation, Paddle Fest attracts more than 2,000 participants who canoe, kayak, or paddleboard 9 miles through Cincinnati in the Ohio River. 


Things to Do  

Clermont County Ohio Freedom Trail – The Clermont County Ohio Freedom Trail is a self-guided walking trail with 42 historic sites connected to the Underground Railroad. 22 of the sites are approved to the National Underground Railroad Network to Freedom. The journey highlights one of the largest Network to Freedom programs in the nation today. Access the free mobile passport here that will be delivered via text message. Along the way, check in at each stop using your phone’s GPS.

Cincinnati Nature Center – An award-winning attraction, the Cincinnati Nature Center is the largest member-supported nature center in the country. The center features over 16 miles of trails winding through Eastern deciduous forest, fields, streams and ponds. The Cincinnati Nature Center is open seven days a week and features nature programs for all ages. 

Jungle Jim’s International Market – As seen on the History Channel, Food Network, and more, Jungle Jim’s is an internationally known one-of-a-kind market experience. With over 500,000 square feet across its Fairfield and Eastgate locations and over 70 countries represented across its products, this is a truly unique must-see destination. Kings Island Amusement Park – Since 1972, Kings Island Amusement Park has been the Midwest’s premier amusement park. With plenty of events, exciting rides, and a water park, this is a perfect destination for the family. This year, the park is celebrating its 50th anniversary, so be sure to look out for events surrounding its ‘Golden Celebration’ this summer! 

Cincinnati Zoo – With its door officially opened in 1875, the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden is the second oldest Zoo in the United States. The zoo sits in the middle of the city, offering an immersive escape into nature. Today, over 1.5 million people visit the Zoo annually, and it features more than 500 animal and 3,000 plant species.  

Check Out a Reds Game – In downtown Cincinnati along the Ohio River, Great American Ball Park is home to the Cincinnati Reds. Be sure to check out a game in this scenic park. While you’re there, check out the Reds Hall of Fame & Museum in the stadium to explore impressive memorabilia. Fun fact – the Reds is the first professional franchise in baseball!

Travel Tips 

Accessibility is certainly a strength here. Clermont County is a quick 30-minute drive from the Cincinnati airport. The hotels in the area are all conveniently located off I-275. For a full-service hotel option, check out the Holiday Inn & Suites Cincinnati-Eastgate. Coming soon in the same area, the Home2 Suites by Hilton Cincinnati Eastgate will offer guests functional suites. In Milford, the Staybridge Suites by IHG is also coming soon and will offer a fresh atmosphere just over 10 miles from downtown Cincinnati. Also in Milford, the new TRU Hotel by Hilton opened in 2021 provides an additional fresh place to stay.
