<p>Hayward Field will once again be the site of a global track and field event, as the World Athletics Council announced that Eugene will be the host of the World Athletics U20 Championships in 2026. Oregon athletes have been able to make frequent appearances at the World Athletics U20 Championships, with the 2022 games showcasing high school athletes such as Lake Oswego’s Mia Brahe-Pedersen, Crater’s Tyrone Gorze and Oregon City’s Sophia Beckmon.
