From Maui to Ruidoso: 30 Years of XTERRA’s Global Ecosystem Comes Into Focus

This season begins with a memory of where the off-road triathlon community started thirty years ago and the many host venues that have become part of the XTERRA story.

A small group once gathered along the Hawaiian shoreline and expanded across the globe into a movement beyond sports with people who simply wish to share the outdoors together. Families, longtime friends, organizers, volunteers and many new faces are the backbone of an incredible year to celebrate three decades of meeting challenges and new cultures together while exploring wild landscapes.

The year ahead brings us toward Ruidoso in the Sierra Blanca mountains of New Mexico for the 30th XTERRA World Championship. Along the way, we thank locals including Samantha Morley, race directors like David Schwartz, and the legend Conrad Stoltz who help us understand the character of each place we visit.
