Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky’s first professional futsal club, Ginga FS, is now bringing its home games to Elite Athletics Sports Complex in Clermont County, Ohio.
Futsal — a fast-paced, highly skilled variation of soccer — traces its roots to Montevideo, Uruguay, in 1930, when Juan Carlos Ceriani created a five-a-side version of the sport for youth competitions at local YMCAs. Played on basketball-sized courts without sidewalls, futsal quickly gained popularity across South America, especially in Brazil, where it shaped some of the most talented players in the world. Icons such as Pelé, Zico, Sócrates, and Bebeto all developed their creativity and technique through futsal before becoming international soccer legends.
Today, futsal is recognized globally under FIFA, with matches played across every continent. The term “Futsal,” first coined by Alexander Para of the U.S. Minisoccer Federation, has become the worldwide name for this exciting and dynamic sport.
Ginga FS is now bringing that same global energy to Clermont County. With the state-of-the-art facilities at Elite Athletics Sports Complex, the team will showcase the speed, precision, and excitement that make futsal a fan favorite.
Clermont County is proud to welcome Ginga FS as its newest professional sports team and looks forward to hosting their matches in the seasons ahead.
