Livestreamed from Where It All Began: XTERRA Short Track Returns to Prachatice

XTERRA Czech hosted World Cup Stop 6, bringing Europe Triathlon Championships in Duathlon and Cross Triathlon to the oldest running XTERRA event in the world. This historic South Bohemian venue is sustained by strong partnerships with a deep connection to the region and community.

Marc D’Hooge, President of Europe Triathlon, called it a venue “rich with off-road history and passion,” while Mayor Jan Bauer noted the bond “between an attractive sporting event and the equally attractive backdrop of hills and Renaissance architecture.” South Bohemian Governor Martin Kuba praised it as “a world-class race that combines the beauty of nature with the demands of Elite sport.”

Women’s Elite winner Barbara Riveros (CHL) reflected, “Being here reminds me of my early XTERRA days. It’s rejuvenating to be back.” Lukáš Kočař (CZE) shared, “Every year, it reminds me why I love this sport.” Age group champion Benoit Lalevée (FRA) traveled to Prachatice because “it’s the oldest race and very well-organized.” Loren Ward (GBR) spoke of “the mutual respect between people and a friendliness” at the heart of the XTERRA community, echoed by Youth B winner Boróka Zilahy (HUN) who said, “I think XTERRA is like a big family. Everyone is kind. Everyone is just welcoming.”

Event Director Michal Piloušek Jr. and the XTERRA Czech team were recognized for their commitment to both racing excellence and sustainable practices. Local favorite Aneta Grabmüller (CZE), carried a deeper personal meaning with her over the weekend. “I was born and raised in Prachatice. I have watched the race many times, volunteered for the race, wishing I had the level to race myself. I never thought I could race Elite, but here I am.”

Her sprint to the finish to win the Short Track capped one of the most entertaining triathlon events ever produced, with clear sight lines that allowed fans around the world to catch every moment. Watch the replay now on YouTube.
