(1) Cadwell Sports Complex – The “crown jewel” of the complex is Cadwell Baseball Stadium, home of the SD State Amateur Baseball Tournament. Along with a double-quad softball complex boasts some of the best softball facilities in the state of South Dakota.

(2) Dry Run Creek Park (Disc Golf Course) is 36.5 acres, which includes one baseball/softball diamond, a tournament ready disc golf course, a drinking fountain, outdoor picnic shelter, parking, playground, restrooms, and skate park. The disc golf course offers a wide variety of holes. Multiple basket placements on most holes with good sized concrete tee pads. New large, and detailed tee signs! 4 extra holes on Extended Smart Layout! Definitely worth the stop if you are traveling through South Dakota on I-90!

(3) Hitchcock Park (Tennis & NEW! Pickleball Courts) is a 33-acre park and is one of Mitchell’s premier parks that offers both families and kids many activities. (6) pickleball courts, added in 2025, are open for public play along with (12) tennis courts with eight of those being lighted.

(4) Lakeview Municipal Golf Course is a premiere, 18-hole municipal facility that is 6,625 yards from the back tees.

It is a challenge for all levels of golf and is also fun to play. Many people from across the state of South Dakota and the nation have praised the high-quality playing conditions and very reasonable prices, and the pro-shop has received much positive feedback as well.

In 2001, they opened a superb new driving range. You will find this one of the finest in the Midwest, conveniently located within walking distance of the main practice green and Clubhouse.

(5) Mitchell Activities Center (Ice Arena) is home to an ice arena that offers (2) sheets of ice along with additional amenities such as: concessions, locker rooms, spectator seating, skate sharpening, and rentals.

(6) Mitchell Recreation Center & Indoor Aquatic Center provides (2) full-size, hard-wood basketball courts, along with a newly remodeled indoor aquatic center. The indoor aquatic center is a max 12′ depth, 25 m, and 8 lane facility.

(7) Pepsi Cola Soccer Complex contains (9) full-size soccer fields which includes one stadium field along with a concession building with restrooms and team locker rooms, and a beautiful outdoor gathering area featuring several gazebos.

Over 100 volunteer-planted trees enhance the beauty and provide shade for those who participate in and spectate at facility events. The complex provides the Mitchell Community with the capability of accommodating soccer programs including recreational, club, high school, and collegiate levels within the community’s state-of-the-art facility.

(8) The Arena at Stampede Park was built and ready for action in July 2024. The new facility, with a rectangular competition arena measuring 260 feet by 160 feet, and has a seating capacity of 5,000.

The facility features a two-story VIP building complete with a social area on the ground floor and suites on the second floor. Suites include an indoor hospitality area with air conditioning as well as a patio overlooking the arena. There’s also a viewing deck above the north bucking chutes, along with a raised wooden crow’s nest for sponsors, and an outdoor hospitality tent for sponsors.

Public parking will be located directly east of the arena with access via Airport Road, while contestant parking is to the north with access via North Ohlman Street.

(9) The World’s Only Corn Palace is open year-round and is free to visit. This 39,200 square feet in total area, with an arena floor of 10,000 square feet, a main lobby of 4,800 square feet and an interior auditorium with up to 3,200 seats,

During the summer months the Corn Palace offers free guided tours led by friendly guides full of “a-maize-ing” facts, like how many nails and staples are used in the decoration process.

Today, the Corn Palace is more than the home of the festival or a point of interest of tourists. It is a practical structure adaptable to many purposes. Included among its many uses are industrial exhibits, dances, stage shows, meetings, banquets, proms, graduations arena for Mitchell High School and Dakota Wesleyan University as well as district, regional and state basketball tournaments.

USA Today named the Corn Palace one of the top 10 places in America for high school basketball.
