In Monroe-West Monroe, sports aren’t just something we watch, they’re part of who we are. From Friday night lights and college athletics to youth tournaments and professional teams, sports bring our community together year-round.

Home to the University of Louisiana Monroe, our community proudly supports Warhawk athletics, including football, basketball, baseball, softball, golf, beach volleyball, and more. Whether it’s game day at Malone Stadium or a conference championship on the diamond, ULM athletics provide excitement and school spirit throughout the year.

The action doesn’t stop with college sports. Monroe-West Monroe is also home to the Monroe Moccasins, bringing professional hockey back to the area, and the Monroe Greenheads, our arena football team that delivers fast-paced entertainment for fans of all ages.

Beyond the hometown teams, Monroe-West Monroe has become a premier destination for sports tourism. Since 2014, the community has hosted the Louisiana State Games, a multi-sport competition that continues to grow each year. What began with 10 sports has expanded to 14, giving athletes from across the state the opportunity to compete and advance to the State Games of America.

Youth sports are also a major part of the Monroe-West Monroe story. Throughout the year, our facilities host basketball tournaments, volleyball championships, baseball and softball competitions, tennis tournaments, and countless other events that bring athletes and families from across the region to our community. Facilities like West Monroe Sports & Events, Sterlington Sports Complex, Ouachita Sportsplex, Forsythe Tennis Complex, ULM facilities, and the Ike Hamilton Exposition Center provide the space and amenities needed to host events at every level.
