NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF HISTORIC BASE BALL CLUBS ANNOUNCES ITS NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP ON SEPTEMBER 20-21, 2025

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE December 9, 2024

The National Association of Historic Base Ball Clubs (NAHBBC) is proud to announce that its National Championship Tournament will take place on September 20-21, 2025, in Cecil County, Maryland. Sixteen clubs from the NAHBBC will be competing for the opportunity to win the national title over two days of historic base ball.

Some of the finest historic base ball clubs from Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New York, New Jersey, Delaware, Pennsylvania, and Maryland will come to Cecil County to compete in over 32 games played the same way base ball (2 words) was played in 1864 using the same rules and customs of the day as well as using historically accurate uniforms and equipment from the mid-19th century. Cecil County won the opportunity to host the tournament over 18 other towns and regions that competed for the chance to host the event. Cecil County Tourism, Cecil County Parks and Recreation and the Maryland Sports Commission partnered to put together a very attractive proposal which ultimately led to the selection of the site.

Over the course of the weekend, several different champions will be crowned. The National Championship will be a single elimination tournament. As clubs lose, they will move to another tournament. Under this format, 5 champions will be named. The tournament will be played on 4 fields over the weekend: 3 of them will be at the Bard Cameron Sports Complex and 1 field will be at the Dove Valley Winery, both located in Rising Sun.

Cecil County has a rich baseball history going back to 1866. Fans attending the tournament will be transported back to the mid-19th century and see how a base ball game was played in its infancy- before million-dollar contracts, before steroids… and even gloves! Great sponsors have already lined up to be partners with the event next September. If your company is interested in partnering with the tournament, or to find out more information as the event draws closer, look up the tournament on social media or its website at http://www.NAHBBC.com. We hope to see you there! ###
