The Pennsylvania Classics organization has been a staple of soccer in Lancaster County. Since opening its doors in East Petersburg in 2004, PA Classics’ has helped to develop talented soccer players and offered camps and clinics to travel teams.
PA Classics is one of the most prestigious places to play, practice and learn the game of soccer in the county. Many players within the Lancaster-Lebanon League play club ball with PA Classics.
Now, after more than two decades of offering soccer facilities, camps, and competitions for Lancaster County and beyond, the soccer park has unveiled plans for expansion.
Steve Klein, the sporting director of PA Classics and one of the organization’s founders, expressed excitement for a project that will expand facilities and allow other sports to utilize their facilities.
The expansion plans include increasing the amount of turf fields to five or six, opening the door for opportunities to host other sports, including lacrosse and field hockey – two sports that are incredibly popular in Lancaster County. This will transition the PA Classics Facility into more of a sports complex.
This expansion will be at PA Classics Park on 1461 Lancaster Road in Penn Township.
While PA Classics is home to their club soccer team, the facility will not be creating field hockey or lacrosse teams of its own. Instead, the facilities will be available to teams around and from outside of Lancaster County. This includes both club teams and scholastic teams.
The new construction for the new turf fields will begin in the spring. One of the turf fields is envisioned to be a stadium field, with locker rooms and spectator areas. Klein has hopes of one day hosting local Lancaster-Lebanon League playoff events and other PIAA-sanctioned events in the proposed stadium field, giving a stage to the talented student athletes.
But most importantly, this expansion means more players, coaches, and families coming to Lancaster County. Klein’s goal is to continue serving the Lancaster community and to create a good environment for multiple sports.
