The 29th XTERRA World Championship closed in Molveno with a powerful reminder of what global sport can achieve when athletes, partners, and communities come together.
On September 27, more than 1,000 athletes from 54 countries raced beneath the Brenta Dolomites, marking the fourth and final Italian edition before XTERRA moves back to the USA for its 30th anniversary season. With fans and families lining the course in Molveno and thousands more watching the livestream, Loanne Duvoisin (CHE) and Félix Forissier (FRA) earned their first World Championship crowns, joined by hundreds of age group athletes who brought stories of challenge, connection, and achievement to the finish line.
The reach of XTERRA continues to grow, with 50 World Tour events across 25 countries feeding into the World Championship and welcoming new contingents this year from Costa Rica, China, Croatia, Panama, and Sweden. Participation in the Youth World Championship also rose sharply in 2025, with 300 athletes, an increase of over 50 percent compared to the inaugural edition. From Maui in 1996 to Molveno in 2025, the World Championship has always reflected global scale and local impact.
That impact is only possible through partnership. Special recognition goes to Riccardo Giubilei, President of the Italian Triathlon Federation, and to Luca D’Angelo at Visit Paganella Tourism Board. Thanks also to Andalo Vacanze, Consorzio Molveno Holiday, APT Dolomiti Paganella, Trentino Marketing, and to the students of the Martino Martini Sports High School in Mezzolombardo, whose volunteer contribution added immeasurably to race week. Our appreciation extends to the medical staff, referees, officials and all other volunteers whose professionalism and passion kept the World Championship running at the highest level.
As XTERRA looks ahead to its 30th year, we remain committed to working alongside our global partners to grow opportunities for athletes of all ages and create events that honor both competition and collaboration.
