Event Highlight: Auburn-Opelika Tourism Hosts MARS for the 2023 Turf Wars National Adult Kickball Tournament
This past weekend, the 2023 Turf Wars National Adult Kickball Tournament took place for the first time for the new Turf Wars Collegiate Division at Auburn University. MARS and Auburn-Opelika Tourism teamed up to host this high-energy, national event and tied in the community to offer local business discounts for attendees. Here’s what you need to know:
About the Event
Turf Wars University is a new branch of the traditional kickball phenomenon. This event featured the traditional Turf Wars experience for the new Collegiate Division. “We decided we wanted to offer kickball on a bigger stage.” Herbert shares. This is a two-day event located in the heart of Auburn University’s campus. This weekend long competition (Coed & Collegiate Divisions) kicked off on Saturday May 20th and ended at approximately 6pm if you were lucky enough to see your way to the end of the competition. On Sunday MARS featured its Women’s Only Division and Men’s Division powered by Legacy Sports.

Promoting the Auburn-Opelika Community
Auburn-Opelika Tourism took advantage of adding local business promotions available within their community for the event on Playeasy. The team added 11 promotions to the event page, which has received hundreds of views over the course of the last few months. By creating a sharable page with event and business information, participants had access to plan their entire trip in advance.
