UMWF World Championships
“Puerto Rico will host USA Weightlifting and the UMWF at the Puerto Rico Convention Center Dr. Pedro Rosselló following an official partnership between the Puerto Rico Weightlifting Federation (FLPPR), Discover Puerto Rico, and USA Weightlifting (USAW). This agreement between USAW, Discover Puerto Rico, and the FLPPR marks a significant expansion of the competitive circuit, bringing together elite athletes, coaches, and delegations from various regions on one of the most important Olympic weightlifting platforms in the United States. This historic milestone helps position the Puerto Rican federation as a pioneer in advancing the sport of weightlifting on a global stage. USAW is very excited and grateful to be working alongside the FLPPR in pursuit of this historic opportunity.
Notes about traveling to Puerto Rico:
- Puerto Rico is a U.S. territory, meaning U.S. citizens and permanent residents do not need a passport, but a REAL ID-compliant driver’s license is required for airport security.
- Currency & Language: The U.S. dollar (USD) is used, and while Spanish is dominant, English is widely spoken in tourist areas.
