Uniting Sports and Tourism: XTERRA Costa Rica Sets the Blueprint for Destination Event Partnerships
Three days of family-friendly off-road challenges filled Las Catalinas including the first XTERRA Americas Trail Run Championship held in Costa Rica.
“Everyone has such a beautiful energy here,” said three-time XTERRA Costa Rica Full Distance Triathlon winner Raquel Solís. “It was the best event I have ever done,” said XTERRA Americas Trail Marathon Champion José Manuel Venegas Romero.
“There is a real community feel,” said Alistair Brownlee who connected with the land and locals throughout the weekend. He led the Golden Social Run with two-time Costa Rican Olympian Leonardo Chacón, signed autographs, joined the professional athlete panel, spoke with athletes and families, and raced on Sunday. He was accessible, generous with his time and completely genuine. Thank you, Alistair.
Thank you as well to Race Director Luis Diego Chaverri, Carlos Díaz, Leonardo Chacón and the entire Performance Solutions team for bringing so many parts of Costa Rican sport together in one place.
