We’re a community of runners, hikers, bikers and ballplayers. We’re an outdoor playground, designed by Mother Nature, with class III and IV rapids running right through our downtown. A 52-mile bike trail runs along the James. The Richmond Marathon and Ukrop’s 10k are huge celebrations, and the whole region comes out to cheer on our local teams. In fact, we’re so sports-minded that the Washington Redskins have their training camp right in the center of the city. Väsen beers combine the experimental spirit that defines American craft beer with the rustic and funky flavors of Belgian farmhouse and sour ales. We’ve developed a distinctive brewing process that produces balanced, sessionable beers that are perfect for long days outside. While our barrel-aging program will let us flood Richmond with the funkiest of farmhouse ales, they’ll be complemented by a variety of saisons, wheat beers, and pale ales. Our goal is to make unconventional ales and celebrate those who share an appreciation for the outdoors and spark positive change in their communities. The Swedish word “väsen” honors our Scandinavian heritage and translates as one’s inner essence or way of being. At Väsen Brewing Company, brewing is about creating and appreciating something greater than yourself. Our beer is a medium through which we express ourselves and our appreciation for our environment. Ardent Craft Ales is a production brewery, taproom, and beer garden located in Scott’s Addition. We pride ourselves on our beers, as well as our personable and knowledgeable staff, industrial-edged taproom, and family- and dog-friendly beer garden. In addition to our core beers, we offer seasonal, cask-conditioned, and barrel-aged beers. We also offer locally sourced small-plate cuisine, and host a regular lineup of food trucks.

Strangeways newest addition, Strangeways Brewing RVA-Scott’s Addition, marks the companies third tasting room location in Virginia. It showcases their large assortment of locally crafted beers and ciders that are produced at their Dabney Road brewery in Richmond, their Fredericksburg brewery, along with specialty brews that are wood barrel fermented and keg conditioned onsite. The over 4,000 square foot facility with a large outdoor patio sits in the heart of Scott’s Addition at 3110 West Leigh Street. The 36+ draft lines feature IPA’s, lagers, Belgian styles, sours, dark beers, specialty beers, ciders, nitro coffee, Kombucha, and beyond, with something to match every individual palate. Always pouring an ever-rotating selection of beer fresh off the taps, they can all be enjoyed onsite as well as be taken to go via growlers, crowlers, cans, or bottles. Unique to this location, Strangeways has teamed up with the talented smokehouse and kitchen crew from SMoHK, who specialize in locally crafted real southern food and BBQ. They will feature a full menu including snacks, appetizers, sandwiches, entrees, and desserts. Don’t miss their delectable wings, pulled pork, brisket, smoked ribeye, and USA Today’s Readers’ Choice voted #1 Best Brunswick Stew in Virginia. To top it all off, they make a large variety of all-natural, house-made sauces, and there are plenty of gluten free options available too. Walk into Strangeways and you can enjoy the full experience of both the brewery and the restaurant all in one space, and one server will take your entire food and beverage order and deliver it table side. With welcoming bars and decor so unique you have to see to believe, Strangeways showcases an outdoor, dog-friendly Biergarten, an arcade, live entertainment, and special events. Open daily to the public starting at 11am, with Happy Hour running every Monday thru Friday from 4-7pm.
