Chimborazo Park lies in Richmond’s Church Hill neighborhood. Richmond acquired the land for the park in 1874. The Richmond National Battlefield Park Association moved its headquarters to Chimborazo Park in 1958. The park was once the location of the Chimborazo Hospital, the largest Confederate hospital during the Civil War.

A 52-mile bike trail runs along the James. The Richmond Marathon and Ukrop’s 10k are huge celebrations, and the whole region comes out to cheer on our local teams. Visitors are urged to begin their park visit at the National Park Service Civil War Visitor Center at Tredegar Iron Works. The Center offers exhibits and audio-visual programs that introduce the story of Richmond during the Civil War and the battlefields and related sites that surround the city. Park staff will answer questions and provide information to help you make the best use of your time.
