Gen. Robert E. Lee initiated the Seven Days Campaign on June 26, 1862, by crossing the Chickahominy River in Hanover County with a large portion of his army. That afternoon he struck Union troops behind Beaver Dam Creek. A walking trail encompasses both Union and Confederate positions.

A 52-mile bike trail runs along the James. The Richmond Marathon and Ukrop’s 10k are huge celebrations, and the whole region comes out to cheer on our local teams.
