This family-owned business is run by a crew of siblings with Somalian heritage, and their passion for hospitality and sharing their culture through food shines through in the quality of the food and the welcoming atmosphere. The siblings opened the cafe in 2022, building on the success of the adjoining Tawakal Mini Market which their family has been running since 1999. Since then, Zain quickly became a favorite of the community and a welcoming spot for newcomers to African cuisine.

-Signature Dishes: Enjoy gyros made with fresh, tender beef, lamb or chicken prepared by an in-house butcher. Or fill up on tender goat meat, lamb shank, chicken with pilaf, or Somali beef stew. Established in 2011 in Tukwila, this locally-owned restaurant strives to “capture the spirit of Somalian hospitality and the warmth of shared family meals.” Open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, it’s a great place to stop if you need a quick bite to go, or want to sit down to a leisurely meal. Either way, you’ll be treated to friendly service and dishes made from fresh, locally-sourced ingredients.     

As one reviewer put it, “This is one of those places you don't want to tell anyone about and keep all to yourself. The food was wonderful - great flavor, reasonable prices, and huge portions.”

- Signature Dishes: Halwo Kismayo Grill is known for homemade Somali favorites such as sambusas, crispy, triangular pastries that are filled with seasoned meat or vegetables. Similar to samosas, they’re perfect for a snack or appetizer.   
- Other popular items include mandazi, deep-fried, donut-like treats, and chapati, (also known as roti), a type of soft, flat, unleavened bread. Order chapati on its own, or enjoy it in a dish such as katakata, a Somali dish made with beef, chicken, fish, or lamb cooked in a sauce with onions, tomatoes and spices. Any time is a good time for coffee! Cafe Pie is not your regular cafe. Cafe Pie offers Barista training program is the initial training for youths and young adults wanting to become baristas. Our training focuses on essential life skills, leadership development, job readiness, and knowledge required to effectively perform the barista role at any coffee shop. Our program has two components: one-to-one skills sharing and on-the-job training. It is a different learning experience that enhances confidence and competence in delivering customer service. Our on-the-job training comes with a bi-weekly paid stipend, therefore an application process is required for acceptance on the program.

Cafe PIE

The 2026 9U PG Harvest Slugfest (Saturday Only) is a premier youth baseball tournament hosted by Perfect Game, the world’s largest and most respected amateur baseball scouting organization. Held on October 3, 2026, at Steven J Underwood Memorial Park in Des Moines, Washington, this single-day event offers young athletes born on or after May 1, 2017 the chance to compete on premium turf fields with professional officiating. Boofest Jamboree

**2026 Emerald City Cup** returns to Starfire Sports in Tukwila on **October 31 – November 1, 2026**, bringing together top boys lacrosse teams from across the region for a weekend of high-level competition. Teams from **3rd/4th grade through High School Varsity** will compete in a guaranteed **five-game format**, including pool play followed by playoff or consolation games. Hosted by CitySide Lax, the tournament emphasizes competitive matchups, player development, and a first-class event experience for athletes, coaches, and families.

Emerald City Cup Boys Lacrosse 

Experience the excitement of the **NWAC Soccer Championships**, where the conference’s top teams compete for a championship title.

Championship action takes place on **Friday, November 13, and Sunday, November 15**, giving soccer fans two days to cheer on talented NWAC student-athletes as they battle their way toward the title.
