Located in [Historic Trolley Square](http://www.trolleysquare.com/) since 1972, we've been satisfying the local Salt Lake community with hand crafted food and beer for decades. In our roots, we began with a simple offering of food and poured Coors to college students. Over time however, we have evolved and expanded into a full service brewpub, with made from scratch food and finely crafted beers alike while still maintaining our local relaxed vibe.

Our brewery operation began in 1995 and within a year we went on to win Utah's first gold medal and the GABF for our Happy Valley Hefeweizen. We have continued winning medals ever since, most recently with 2 Gold Medals and the 2015 Mountain Brewers Festival for our Road Rage Rye and Dunkelweizen. Currently we have four beers that are always on tap (Hefeweizen, Pilsner, Pale Ale, and Stout) in addition to four rotating seasonal taps and one cask conditioned handle.

The menu has kept some of the 35 year favorites while adding and changing over time to more modern offerings. We are a service organization offering a variety of professional development opportunities and grants to serve our constituents. We serve schools, local arts agencies, organizations, community centers, performing groups, museums, and individuals across Utah.  
  
Our agency acts as a state coordinator and advisor on topics of importance to arts and museums communities. We manage the State of Utah Alice Merrill Horne Art Collection, the Utah Percent-for-Art Act public art program, and traveling exhibitions, reaching every county in the state. UA&M is the primary agency in Utah that distributes state and federal funds to stimulate and encourage growth in the creative industries. These funds are appropriated directly for arts and museums by both the Utah State Legislature and the National Endowment for the Arts. We are a division of the Department of Cultural and Community Engagement (CCE) within Utah state government.

HSL Restaurant, sister restaurant to Park City’s HANDLE and brought to Salt Lake by Executive Chef Briar Handly, Melissa Gray, and Meagan Nash, is a beauty of a spot that pushes all the right buttons. I had the chance to visit HSL for dinner last Saturday during their soft opening and was invited to a media event last night and the food, cocktails, and atmosphere haven’t strayed far from my mind since we first stepped through the door.

The bar program is being established by seasoned SLC cocktail expert, Scott Gardner. After following his moves around restaurants and bars in the city *[always a little too late]*, I finally got the chance to try his cocktails and they did not disappoint. No one is doing cocktails like Scott’s. The Bourbon + Black Tea + Clarified Milk, Mezcal + Epazote + Palm Sugar, Brandy + Pistachio + Mint cocktails were unbelievable. I could talk for days about his level of booze enthusiasm and geekery and I can’t wait to see what comes next out of HSL’s bar.
