Erected in 1859 at the entrance to Brigham Young’s property which led to the mouth of City Creek Canyon. Replaced several times over the years, the present 4,000 lb. eagle capping the 76-foot span of Eagle Gate has a wingspread of 20 feet.

Historic Temple Square

Located across from Temple Square and other tourist attractions, City Creek Center offers a mix of luxury retailers, unique-to-market stores and trusted brands, from Louis Vuitton, Coach, Kendra Scott and Tiffany & Co. to Salomon and Lululemon, as well as Nordstrom and Macy's. Visitors can watch the recording of this famous international broadcast at 9:30 a.m. in the Tabernacle.\* Note: During the summer, the Choir rehearses and performs Music & the Spoken Word in the Conference Center.

**Organ Recitals**—Hear live [organ recitals](https://www.thetabernaclechoir.org/events/organ-recitals.html) on Temple Square, including from the Salt Lake Tabernacle organ, the Conference Center organ, and the Salt Lake Assembly Hall organ. The recitals take place each Monday through Saturday at 12:00 noon and each Sunday at 2 p.m. From Memorial Day through Labor Day, a second daily recital takes place each Monday through Saturday at 2:00 p.m. on the Conference Center organ.

The Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square

Chronicling the history of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from its beginning in 1830 to the present day, collections at the library contain manuscripts, books, Church records, photographs, oral histories, architectural drawings, pamphlets, newspapers, periodicals, maps, microforms, and audiovisual materials. Staff at the library create methods for accessing this information.

Church History Library and Archives

Constructed in 1855 as a residence for Brigham Young and his family. No tours, but The Pantry Restaurant is on the lower level. It is closed for renovation through 2021.

Lion House

Picturesque park features a stone-lined stream, serene pond, triple-arch bridge, and pedestrian paths leading to Memory Grove Park.

Family Discovery Center

In a grassy plot near downtown Salt Lake City are the gravesites of Brigham Young and others, including Eliza R. Snow, pioneer poetess and early women's leader in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The centerpiece of this area is a monument honoring the 6,000 pioneers who lost their lives crossing the plains between 1847 and the advent of the railroad in 1869. This historic site is open daily to the public.

Mormon Pioneer Memorial Monument

A National Historic Landmark, and a monument to courageous people who conquered the desert. Built in 1854, this served as the official residence of Brigham Young when he was President of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and Governor of the Utah Territory. Free tours daily.

The Beehive House

Come visit the Utah Sports Hall of Fame Museum. Located in the northwest corner of City Creek Mall (99 W So. Temple, Suite 102 - mall level of the Condo tower and open M-S 11:00 am to 7:00 pm), it preserves the state’s sports heritage through fun interactive displays and memorabilia from former Olympians, athletes and coaches.
