Welcome to the home of NFL players, State Champions, Pro Baseball Players, Olympic coaches, and sports enthusiasts. New Braunfels is happy to carry on great sports traditions; swim meets that date back to the 1960’s, volleyball tournaments going strong for over 30 years, golf events that range from small to over 1000 have been hosted here for 38 years, Softball and Baseball tournaments, and many more. Some unique events such as golden glove boxing, pool, nine pin bowling, and Skat (German card game) tournaments.



New Braunfels

On the corner of Gruene Road and the Guadalupe River, Cantina del Rio is just a couple doors down from Gruene Hall. In business since 2010, Cantina is situated in a bustling shady nook, river side and comfortable under the oak tree canopy. Formerly the Guadalupe Smoked Meat Company and Janie’s Table, the building was originally constructed in Martindale, Texas in the early 1900’s and was moved to Gruene in 1983. Enjoy the social atmosphere inside, on the front porch, or out back in the shady yard.

The menu honors staples like classic enchiladas and satisfying tacos alongside surprisingly crave-worthy burgers and fries. A Cantina favorite, the “El Rey Burger” (a.k.a. The King) is one of the best kept secrets in Gruene Historic District!

Don’t miss our craveable margarita— it’s been voted the best in town for a reason! Whether you like them frozen or on the rocks, these signature sips of perfection are made with top shelf tequila and fresh, hand-squeezed lime juice.

The Gruene River Grill has been serving the New Braunfels area since 2004. Overlooking the Guadalupe River in the historic district of Gruene, we offer outside patio seating and air-conditioned indoor seating. We also have private dining rooms available for your next special event.

At Gruene River Grill we use local vendors to bring us quality ingredients for our scratch made recipes. We offer a full-service bar with premium liquors, frozen margaritas, locally brewed craft beers and an extensive wine list.

Our menu includes something for everyone. Start off with our signature Shrimp Wontons or the Tri-Fecta with homemade Queso, Guacamole and Roasted Salsa. We offer a great selection of hand-tossed salads like our Classic Greek Salad or our Chicken Fajita Salad.

For the beef lovers we have signature hamburgers and hand-cut steaks, like the Balsmaic Ribeye. If you’re serious about seafood then try our Pan Seared Redfish, Salmon Piccata or Jalapeno Glazed Shrimp Brochettes. Our local favorites like Lemon Chicken, Smoked Pork Tenderloin and Hawaiian Baby Back Ribs will keep you coming back every time. Other favorites include Chicken Guadalupe, Gruene Chicken Enchiladas and Southwest Meatloaf.
