Meyer Preserve is part of the Prospect Road corridor called the Superior Greenway. The preserve consists of two different parcels on the southwest and northeast corners of Vreeland and Prospect Roads. The western parcel contains active farmland, a beech-maple woods, and a large wetland complex. The natural habitats support migrating birds, great horned owls, and mink.

LeFurge Woods Nature Preserve trails wind throughout wetlands, meadows, agricultural lands, and, of course, wonderfully preserved LeFurge Woods to allow visitors some of the best wildlife viewing in Ypsilanti.

Kosch Headwaters Preserve's wonderful maple-beech woodland is home to many mature beech. The rather uncommon blue ash is found in relative abundance on the western portion of the site. Wetlands, seasonal streams, and a spring flowing out of the maple-beech woodland all contribute to the headwaters of Fowler Creek which ultimately flows into the Rouge River, hence the name "headwaters."

You need not be a golfer to appreciate the beauty of the back nine at this township golf course. However, you do have to be a player to enjoy the value of its well-kept fairways, large undulating greens, numerous arbors and the all-around maturity of this 32-year-old course.

The challenge the Green Oaks Golf Course brings to the beginner as well as seasoned golfer through it water hazards, sand traps, roughs and pin placement is unmatched. Township residents and senior citizens receive discounted rates.

Peninsular Park is a beautiful park that was once the site of the Peninsular Paper Company. It is a great park for fishing, especially on the walkway below the Peninsular Dam.

Peninsular Park is a 5 acre wooded area on the eastern shore of the Huron River, west of Leforge Road, that anchors the northern end of the riverfront park system.

Designed by Colonel James Lewis Glen of Niles Michigan, the cemetery design reflects the "rural" or "garden" style popular in American cemetery design from the 1840's. Highland is one of three "garden" style cemeteries that he designed; Forest Hill in Ann Arbor, Silver Brook in Niles and Highland in 1863-1864. The cemetery is an attractive place to visit throughout the year. Its own seasonal beauty provides links with the natural ebbs and flows of life. The cemetery is home to a great number of birds and wildlife. It is not unusual to find at least a half dozen whitetail deer living on and around the property. These provide endless opportunities for observation by school children and adult enthusiasts. It has a rich array of plantings, including those native to this part of Michigan. The Michigan Conservancy has cataloged the flora, making a visit to Highland a treat for visitors. The buildings and monuments in Highland cemetery reflect the great span of human civilization in their architectural styles. These styles reflect ancient Egypt, Greece and Rome with the great obelisks, urns, and columns that decorate many of the monuments. The massive stonework of the Romanesque and Gothic sit side-by-side along with the dark Victorian stones and the fragile and simple markers of the early 19th Century. Fanciful "rustic" markers in the shape of tree stumps and tree trunks, draped urns, closed books, cherubs, lambs and dogs are scattered throughout the garden-like grounds.

The Cherry Hill Nature Preserve is 160 acres of diverse terrain, including rolling hills, wetlands, part of Fleming Creek, meadow and woods. The preserve is approximately one half mile square.

The land is owned by Superior Township and open to the public. Some walking paths have been created (look for a trail map in the map box at the main entrance).

The wildlife population here is as diverse as the terrain, with a resident owl population, as well as many wetland bird species, including warblers, and bluebirds.

Cherry Hill Nature Preserve

The Student Center, located on the north side of campus, houses two gallery spaces. First is the University Gallery, which features major exhibitions and events intended for both the School of Art & Design, the University public and the larger community. The premier art gallery on campus, featuring exhibitions by regional, national, and international artists.
