Surrounded by 200 acres of forest and meadows, the Harris Nature Center is set on the banks of the Red Cedar River. This setting offers a wonderful opportunity for a variety of learning experiences for people of all ages. Inside the building are educational displays with live animals. Outside, visitors can spend time viewing the river and live bird exhibits, play in the Nature Exploration Area, and explore the many miles of paved and natural trails. Ted Black Woods is filled with beautiful hardwoods, an abundance of spring wildflowers, and a large diversity of songbirds. Access to this park from two different points with small parking lots; one is on Van Atta Road and the other is on Grand River Avenue. The central 62 acres of Ted Black Woods were acquired in 1973. Later, in 1989, an adjacent 9.5-acre parcel was purchased with Park Millage funds to provide a public access point and the paved parking lot on Grand River Avenue. In 2009, an additional .92 acres were added as a donation from the family of former Trustee, Park Commissioner, Environmental Commissioner, and famed bird expert Ted Black. This land, which was where Ted Black and his wife Marijane lived, provided an additional entrance off of Van Atta Road. As part of the donation agreement and as an opportunity to honor Ted Black for his many years of service to the Meridian Township community, what once was known as Van Atta Woods Park was renamed "Ted Black Woods." It has been allowed to progress naturally and you can enjoy this natural beauty from the picnic area or wetland overlook deck at the Van Atta Road entrance or on the many miles of natural trails throughout the park.

Join the **Midwest Fall Brawl Lacrosse Tournament**, the premier lacrosse showcase for boys and girls teams in the Midwest. Hosted at the state-of-the-art Hope Sports Complex in Lansing, Michigan, this **October 10–11, 2026** event features high-energy competition across divisions from U10 to Varsity.&#x20;

Boys divisions play three guaranteed games on October 11, while girls divisions compete in 8v8 small-sided matches concluding by 2:00 PM on October 10, perfect for homecoming festivities.&#x20;

Midwest Fall Brawl Lacrosse Tournament

The **2nd Annual Comet Classic** is a collegiate bowling tournament hosted by The University of Olivet.  This one day event taking place at Royal Scot Golf & Bowl will feature approximately 30 teams.
