Museum of East Alabama

Located in the heart of Opelika’s downtown historic district, adjacent to the Lee County Courthouse Square, the Museum of East Alabama stands on the original site of the old Clement Hotel. Since opening its doors in August 1989, the museum has become a local treasure, now showcasing more than 5,000 artifacts that reflect the rich history of Opelika, East Alabama, and the state as a whole. Featuring items from both the 19th and 20th centuries, the museum offers a unique glimpse into local, state, and regional history. Each year, over 2,000 visitors explore the exhibits and experience the culture and heritage of East Alabama.
