Opelika Wood Duck Heritage Preserve & Siddique Nat

The Opelika Wood Duck Heritage Preserve and Siddique Nature Park is an 85-acre restored habitat that attracts both birders and nature lovers. As one of 34 sites along the Piedmont Plateau Birding Trail, it’s home to more than 170 identified bird species, including a thriving population of wood ducks and seasonal waterfowl. The park combines a former wastewater lagoon with donated land, creating a mix of hardwood and pine forests, swamps, and ponds. Visitors can explore over two miles of wooded trails and enjoy two bird viewing blinds overlooking the lagoon, making it a peaceful retreat for anyone interested in wildlife and conservation.
