Kirk Park (3.75 acres) has two fenced baseball diamonds, four dugout benches, four sets of bleachers, a pavilion with picnic tables, two swing sets, a basketball court, two tennis courts, one jungle gym, and two parking areas (one is milled asphalt; the other is paved). The teams of the Summer Recreation Little League Program use the baseball fields, and the entire park is used for play by neighborhood youth.

The Blacksmith Shop was built in 1877 by a group of stone masons in just eight days. The shop was owned and operated at that time by William F. Neebling, who sold it to Theodore Morschheuser in 1909. John Schneider became an apprentice to Morschheuser in 1911, and in 1922, Mr. Schneider continued the practice of making and repairing wagons, wheels, and related items made from hammered steel. He also shoed horses to supplement his income. John Schneider owned the Blacksmith Shop until his death in 1952. The Blacksmith Shop, one of Michigan's last intact Main Street blacksmith shops, was purchased by the Manchester Area Historical Society in 1982. The Blacksmith Shop is the meeting place and training center for several who still practice the blacksmith craft. Demonstrations are often presented during local festivals. The blacksmiths welcome your questions and enjoy explaining how the forge operates.

Remnants of Manchester's glory days are still discernable in its well-preserved streetscape and elegant private homes. The River Raisin (named after the wild grapes that grew along its banks), spawned three dams that powered mills and factories. Trains came in every half hour from one of the two railroad lines passing through Manchester. As new forms of production and transportation replaced river and rail travel during the 20th century, Manchester's glory days ended, but it has continued as an agricultural and industrial center with a strong sense of history.

Manchester Historical Walking Tour

Tacos and beer! Top-selling items range from à la carte tacos—filled with everything from house-braised steak barbacoa to Mojo-marinated pork carnitas—to hearty rice bowls and a rotating chef’s special inspired by regional Mexican flavors.

The concept was designed around a scratch kitchen philosophy, emphasizing fresh, seasonal ingredients and house-made components, all sourced from local purveyors.

The Manchester Tour de Barn Quilts is the first of a group of eco-tourism activities being planned featuring the Village of Manchester and surrounding natural areas. This self-guided bike tour is on rural roads beginning and ending in the parking lot at Manchester High School.

The tour travels bucolic byways to look at barn quilts, which are large, colorful quilt blocks on the sides of barns, as well as other historic barns and churches, a farm stand, a Ford mill, and the charming Village of Manchester. The route is 14 to 26 miles long. Included too is an optional 6 mile loop.
