With documents dating back to 1792, the Archives of Michigan is our state's memory. Established in 1913, the Archives of Michigan holds more than 100 million state and local government and private records. These records include the architectural drawings of the Capitol building, citizenship papers of individuals, and Civil War soldiers' diaries and letters.
The Archives also hold over 1 million photographs and maps, plus films and audiotapes that are available for public research in a state-of-the-art facility.
The Archives welcomes anyone interested in learning more about Michigan's history.
