Peninsular Park is a beautiful park that was once the site of the Peninsular Paper Company. It is a great park for fishing, especially on the walkway below the Peninsular Dam.

Eastern Michigan University (EMU) is a public university. Currently, EMU comprises seven colleges and schools. The university's site is composed of an academic and athletic campus spread across 800 acres, with over 120 buildings. EMU has a total enrollment of more than 23,000 students.

With three floors of available event spaces, the Eastern Michigan University Student Center can accommodate a wide variety of events from a business meeting for 10 to a banquet for more than 1,000.

The Student Center, located on the north side of campus, houses two gallery spaces. First is the University Gallery, which features major exhibitions and events intended for both the School of Art & Design, the University public and the larger community. Sherzer Observatory is an astronomical observatory located on the Eastern Michigan University campus. It is operated by Physics & Astronomy staff and student volunteers from the EMU Astronomy Club.

The observatory is open on clear Tuesday evenings from September through April (academic year), and at select times during spring/summer terms (May through August). They are also scheduled to open on clear Monday evenings after 7:30 p.m. (and perhaps occasional Thursday evenings later in the term) for the Winter 2017 term for lab observations. A quick check of the observatory phone may verify if they are observing on a particular evening. The observatory observes all university holidays and closures.

The EMU Quirk Dramatic Arts Building houses three theatres: Quirk, Sponberg and Frank Ross Laboratory Theatre, and is home to the University’s Department of Communication and Theatre Arts. EMU stages a variety of performances during the theatre season that typically spans from September to June.

Candy Cane is a 7.0 acre neighborhood park located in the northwest corner of the community. This park has one baseball field, tennis courts, play equipment and picnic facilities. Little League games are held at Candy Cane over the summer.
