Olive Shores

An extensive series of stairs and boardwalks traverse a steep dune formation and provides access to the sandy Lake Michigan beach at Olive Shores, just about 45 minutes west of downtown Grand Rapids.

The mostly wooded 20-acre site includes a mature beech-maple-hemlock forest featuring a barrier-free trail loop. Decks provide seating and views of Lake Michigan and host a display highlighting the property as the site of a scene from the Tom Hanks movie, "Road to Perdition*."* Barrier-free facilities include the parking lot, restrooms and picnic tables. Some trails are wheelchair-accessible and all stairs are designed to be ADA-accessible.

Olive Shores is an Ottawa County Park requiring a parking permit from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day. Annual permits are $25; daily permits are $8. There are additional discounts for residents and resident seniors, which are available when you purchase your permit online. Permits may also be purchased from the pay station at Olive Shores.
