The location of Discover Kalamazoo’s planned $40 million indoor youth sports facility has been proposed in Kalamazoo’s Westwood neighborhood. The site, north of the Holiday Inn, between Drake Road and 131 North, is highlighted in yellow.

Kalamazoo County Hotels Pass the Vote to Create Funding for an Indoor Sports Facility

We are proud to announce that earlier this week, Kalamazoo County Hotels voted 82% in favor of a funding mechanism that will help pay for the development of a new $40M indoor sports facility. The new facility will feature indoor hardwood space for 8 basketball or 16 volleyball courts, as well as an indoor turf field. This marks a very exciting step forward for the future of sports tourism in our community!

Work underway to prepare future site of $300M arena in downtown Kalamazoo

KALAMAZOO, MI — Construction crews are working on the foundation of the new $300 million downtown arena. Catalyst Development Co. is planning for the Kalamazoo Event Center to span four blocks on the southeast corner of North Westnedge Avenue and West Kalamazoo Avenue.

Hockey Hall of Fame displays coming to Wings Event Center for Hockey Heritage Fan Fest

KALAMAZOO, Mich. — Several significant sports trophies are set to visit Kalamazoo in January. A display from the Hockey Hall of Fame including the Conn Smythe Trophy, Ted Lindsay Award and Maurice “Rocket” Richard Trophy will be displayed at Wings Event Center on Jan. 18 at 2 p.m.

2025 WARRIOR/ECHL HOCKEY HERITAGE GAME TO BE AIRED NATIONALLY ON NHL NETWORK

SHREWSBURY, N.J. – The ECHL announced today that the 2025 Warrior/ECHL Hockey Heritage Game presented by Discover Kalamazoo and Firekeepers between the Toledo Walleye and Kalamazoo Wings will be aired nationally on NHL Network on Sunday, Jan. 19 at 4:00 p.m. ET.

24,000-square-foot pickleball facility breaks ground in Kalamazoo County

KALAMAZOO COUNTY, MI — Confetti filled the air as ground was broken Wednesday, Nov. 20, on what will be a 24,000 square-foot, indoor pickleball facility in Kalamazoo County. Friendly Pickle broke ground Wednesday at 5675 West D Ave. in Alamo Township, just off U.S. 131. The business plans to open the facility in June 2025.
