Things to do in Red Wing Visitors & Convention Bureau

Whether you’re traveling alone, with your family, a group of friends, or seeking a romantic getaway, there are so many options to entertain you.

Enjoy a historic downtown walking tour at your leisure. Or hit the trails for a more vigorous experience. Barn Bluff, Memorial Park, and the Cannon Valley Trail offer hiking, rock climbing, biking, mountain biking, disc golf, cross-country skiing, and snowshoeing. Depending on the season, you may want to visit one of the local golf courses and take in the gorgeous views of the bluffs and rolling hills. Water activities surround the town as the majestic Mississippi flows between Red Wing, MN, and Hager City, WI. Bring along your own watercraft and launch it at one of our public parks or reach out to one of our boat rental facilities and enjoy the river on a pontoon. Visiting Red Wing by boat?- make arrangements ahead of time to moor your boat at one of our friendly marinas. For the fishing enthusiasts, opportunities abound in winter, spring, summer, and fall. Become one with nature by bird watching along the river, upon the bluffs, or on the back wood trails. Intriguing eagle sightings can take place along the river and throughout town. If it’s a must-see while you are visiting, be sure to plan a guided tour or visit the National eagle center.

While your outdoor adventures are endless in Red Wing, be sure to schedule some downtime by strolling thru the locally owned and operated boutiques. Experience a variety of cuisine by grabbing a to-go order and enjoying it at one of our comfortable lodging facilities. The Red Wing Brewery or Falconer Vineyards & Winery offers growlers and bottles of wine to go.

And last, but certainly not least… don’t forget the museums and art displays. Both offer a glimpse into our history while offering shopping and exploration opportunities. Visit the Red Wing Shoe Store and Museum where you will find the World’s Largest Boot. The flagship store & clearance center offers a free museum that tells the story of the famous boots. The Pottery Museum of Red Wing is also free and has over 6,000 pieces of pottery dating back to the early days before refrigeration through the days where production focused on art pottery. The Goodhue County Historical Society is a wonderful resource for information about the people, geography, and history of the area. More museums include the Alive Military Museum, Red Wing Marine Museum, and Ski Jumping Hall of Fame and Museum – (see their listings for hours and details).
