Media Release: Skate America returns to Everett in 2026

U.S. Figure Skating announced that 2026 Skate America will return to Everett and be held at Angel Of The Winds Arena from November 13-15, 2026. The prestigious event is being held in partnership with the Snohomish County Sports Commission and is one of six stops in the International Skating Union (ISU) Grand Prix of Figure Skating Series, bringing world-class figure skating back to the Pacific Northwest for the first time since 2018.

From Feb. 21-22, DYSports LLC, a youth basketball tournament organization, held its Beyond the Arc Basketball Tournament at the Arlington and Marysville Pilchuck high schools, and it featured more than 60 boys and girls teams competing in 4th-8th grade divisions.

Recap: 2026 USA Artistic Swimming Classic Invitational

The USA Artistic Swimming (USAAS) Classic Invitational hasn’t been held in Washington state since 2024, and that year it was in Tacoma. However, this year for the first time in USAAS history, the Classic Invitational finally dipped into Snohomish County. Hosted by the Seattle Synchronized Swim Team, the event was held at the Snohomish Aquatic Center from March 21-22, and it featured more than 150 participants from six clubs, all traveling from Washington, Oregon, Colorado and British Columbia, Canada.

RECAP: 2026 Jet City Roller Derby February Bout

It’s rugby on skates. There aren’t balls or goals, but there’s plenty of blockers and bruises, which makes roller derby a great alternative contact sport. What’s even better is that Snohomish County is home to Jet City Roller Derby (JCRD), an Everett-based nonprofit organization that was established in 2006 with the mission to “improve Snohomish County by developing athletes, promoting healthy lifestyles, providing community service and partnering with local charities.”

Media Release: Tammy Dunn to be inducted into Sports ETA Hall of Fame

On March 17, the Sports Events and Tourism Association (Sports ETA) announced that Tammy Dunn, executive director of the Snohomish County Sports Commission, will be inducted into the Sports ETA Hall of Fame during the organization’s annual Symposium in Las Vegas on April 22, 2026. The Sports ETA Hall of Fame is sponsored by the Albuquerque Sports Commission.

WIAA 3A/4A Baseball State Championships return to Funko Field in Everett

The Washington Interscholastic Activities Association (WIAA) has awarded the 2026 3A/4A Baseball State Championships to Funko Field in Everett. The state tournament will have four 3A and four 4A high school baseball teams, all vying to be crowned 2026 state champions. This is the second time in four years the state championships have been held at Funko Field. The baseball games will be on Friday and Saturday, May 29-30, 2026.

Snohomish County Sports Tourism generates $42 million in economic impact for 2025

The Snohomish County Sports Commission had a stellar year in 2025, supporting more than 150 sports tournaments and welcoming over 230,000 visitors to the area. These events generated approximately $42 million with nearly 43,000 room nights booked, and there were a record number of 37 different sports played throughout 12 communities.

Nearly 100 players including two teams from Canada participated in the three-day 2026 Side Out Showdown pickleball tournament, hosted by Cloud 11 at Side Out Pickleball Centers in Everett from Jan. 30 – Feb. 1. This was a four-match-guaranteed, USA Pickleball-sanctioned event that used Franklin X-40 balls and DUPR ratings.

Flag football has been offered for decades at Boys & Girls Clubs and YMCA’s throughout Snohomish County. Several high schools in Washington state have also provided flag football as a club activity.

The bright lights of Angel Of The Winds Arena shined down on Everett Youth Hockey Jr. Silvertips player, Joaquin, as he retrieved the puck from center ice and advanced toward the Euguene Jr. Generals goal. Displaying his stickhandling abilities, he meticulously switched the puck from forehand to backhand, attempting to deceive the Oregon goalkeeper which direction he would shoot.

Cheers and excitement, uncertainty and stress, victories and defeats—it all was there at the 2026 Ignite the Northwest V5RC Signature Event, held inside the Evergreen State Fair Park’s Gary D. Weikel Events Center from Friday-Sunday, Jan. 9-11. More than 100 teams participated, hailing from cities in Washington state, Oregon, Idaho, California, Utah, Arizona, Mississippi, Tennessee, Virginia, Massachusetts, Maine and Hawaii.

Double legs, single legs, half-nelsons, arm bars and cradles were all on display at the 2026 Oregon Classic Qualifier, hosted by Ascend Wrestling Academy at the Keith Gilbertson Sr. Sports and Fitness Center at Snohomish High School on Sunday, Jan. 11. This was a sanctioned tournament under the Washington State Wrestling Association and USA Wrestling.

The first event of the new year took place at the DieHard RC indoor off-road carpet track at the Evergreen State Fairgrounds Pavilion in Monroe on Saturday, Jan. 3. This was the DieHard RC Experience No. 3 race, which is the third of seven races in the 2025-26 off-road carpet series.
