Things to do in the area

Art Galleries

El Paso’s cultural scene comes to life through a collection of museums and centers that reflect the city’s rich borderland identity. The El Paso Museum of Art showcases compelling American, Mexican, and European works alongside rotating contemporary exhibitions, while the El Paso Museum of History tells the story of the region through immersive displays that explore the people, events, and cultures that shaped the borderlands.

Families and curious minds can experience hands-on learning at La Nube STEAM Discovery Center, where science, technology, engineering, arts, and math come together through interactive exhibits designed to inspire all ages.

The Mexican American Cultural Center (MACC) celebrates the voices, traditions, and artistic expression of the Mexican American experience through exhibitions, performances, and community programming. Adding depth and reflection, the El Paso Holocaust Museum and Study Center offers powerful educational exhibits that honor survivors and promote understanding, tolerance, and human rights. Together, these institutions create a cultural landscape that is thoughtful, engaging, and uniquely El Paso.

Entertainment

El Paso offers entertainment that spans generations, blending family-friendly attractions with high-energy experiences. Spend the day exploring the El Paso Zoo and Botanical Gardens, where animal encounters and shaded pathways make for an easy, engaging outing. Downtown, families and kids can catch a live concert, Broadway tour, or major sporting event at the historic Plaza Theatre and the Abraham Chavez Theatre. For outdoor fun, locals and visitors alike enjoy biking and walking trails along the Franklin Mountains State Park, experience world-class bouldering at Hueco Tanks State Park & Historic Site, or experience exhilarating UTV riding at the dunes of Red Sands.

Historical & Cultural Sites

El Paso’s history is deeply tied to the land, the river, and the cultures that have shaped the borderlands for centuries. The El Paso Mission Trail connects three historic missions: Ysleta Mission, Socorro Mission, and San Elizario Presidio Chapel, each offering a glimpse into the region’s Spanish colonial roots and enduring Indigenous and Mexican heritage.

Along the trail, visitors can explore adobe architecture, centuries-old churches, and living communities where traditions are still practiced today. In downtown, the Magoffin Home State Historic Site tells the story of El Paso’s role as a crossroads of trade, diplomacy, and migration. Together, these sites reveal a layered history that spans generations, making El Paso a place where the past is not only preserved but still very much alive.

Regional Casinos

El Paso’s central location makes it easy to access some of the region’s most popular gaming destinations. Just a short drive away, visitors can enjoy entertainment, dining, and casino action at destinations like Speaking Rock Entertainment Center, Sunland Park Racetrack & Casino, and nearby New Mexico gaming resorts—all convenient options for a night out or extended stay.

Vineyards and Wineries

El Paso and the surrounding region are redefining Texas wine. Sip locally crafted wines at Zin Valle Vineyards or at La Vina Winery and explore the broader Rio Grande wine region, one of the oldest wine-producing areas in North America. From tastings to scenic vineyard views, El Paso proves that doing Texas wine comes with a distinct desert-grown twist.
