Upward Star Center

Fields: The primary layout of 4 lighted full-size and 2 youth fields can be easily shifted to reduce uneven wear or relined to provide additional youth or micro fields. All fields are covered with Celebration grass, an innovative Bermuda hybrid designed to produce a lush, mat-like playing surface rugged enough to withstand year-round use. Parking: A 144 newly paved parking lot overlooks the 2 playing fields. Club House: 2100 square foot modular building with handicap accessible restrooms; includes concession area, space for meetings and classroom sessions, and storage.

Carolina FC Soccer Complex

The Thomas E. Hannah Family YMCA has a large outdoor athletic field which can be used to serve as 1 full size adult soccer field, 2 youth soccer fields, and may be used for a variety of other sports. Around the Field is a walking sidewalk that is very close to .25 of a mile. Inside we have two swimming pools. One is a 6 lane 25 yard lap pool and the other is a three lane 25 yard lap pool which serves for water aerobics and swim lessons. There is a 1.5 ft. splash pad play area a water slide as well as a circulation pool which uses an aqua vortex to pump water in a continuous current around the walking area. The basketball court is a beautiful hardwood floor and has 6 goals. Most often it is divided into two small playing courts however we also run full court games daily. Each side of the basketball court may be used for volleyball play as well and has the proper fixtures for our volleyball assemblies. Upstairs of the basketball court is a 16th of a mile indoor track with both walking and running lanes. The surface is manufactured by PLAE a premier walking track and surfacing company that provides flooring for many fitness facilities. While the outdoor field is not yet permanently lit, we do have light structures for our outdoor sports seasons.

Tyger River Park, one of the South’s premier baseball and softball tournament complexes, features 12 youth baseball/softball fields arranged in convenient four-field clusters, a championship stadium seating 600 people and with unmatched site amenities, clubhouse, concession areas, umpire changing rooms, lounge, VIP Suite, wireless internet, covered seating, two playgrounds and flat-screen TVs at each pod. Located 15 miles from downtown, Tyger River Park has hosted the 2015 USSSA Global Sports Baseball World Series, 2015 ASA/USA Girl’s 18 U Class A National World Series and 2015 NSA Girls Fast-Pitch Class B World Series, among other events. All fields are dirt and irrigated. Eight fields have permanent fences at 275 feet, two fields have permanent fences at 220 feet and two fields have permanent fences at 260 feet. The stadium field has a permanent 300-foot fence. Ample parking and restroom facilities are available.

Tyger River Park

North Spartanburg Park was renovated in 2011/2012 to provide space for local league play in baseball/softball, as well as assisting in the hosting of regional and national youth sports tournaments. North Spartanburg Park also is home to the Carolina Miracle League, which provides sports and recreation experiences for children with disabilities. Further improvements to the park are planned, such as a perimeter exercise trail, more picnic areas, and other amenities.

This facility houses an indoor 50meter/25yard competition pool and a 25 yard teaching and therapy pool. The 8 lanes of 50 meters and 20 lanes of 25 yards allow maximum flexibility for the program. The Middle Tyger YMCA also has a new 12-lane digital scoreboard. The facility houses one basketball court and two volleyball courts.

Located in the fast-growing Boiling Springs community, the park’s unusual name derives from the names of the families who donated land for park. The park currently contains three soccer fields, but four more will be added in 2014. The park also has 18-hole disc golf course, three tennis courts, a playground, and shaded picnic tables. The park will be the home Spartanburg County’s Northern Youth Association and will be used, in concert with other parks, to attract youth sports tournaments, including soccer, lacrosse and football.

Va-Du-Mar McMillan Regional Park

295 Park is managed by the Spartanburg County Parks Department and offers four baseball/softball fields, two soccer/multi-purpose fields, a score tower with restrooms and concessions, a playground and picnic areas. This facility is used for local league play as well as outside tournament play.

Dedicated September 17, 2014, the Marsha H. Gibbs Field House is a state of the art facility that houses the athletic offices of Athletic Director, Assistant Athletic Director, and the Swimming, Tennis, Golf, Lacrosse and Soccer programs. This facility is equipped with a fully furnished weight room, five locker rooms, mobile athletic training room and the golf practice facility. The Marsha H. Gibbs Field House features a press box for Soccer and Lacrosse matches as well as a terrace over looking the Hayden Abney Rose Field.

Converse College

Old Canaan Park is managed by the Spartanburg County Parks Department and is located on the south side of Spartanburg.

A large, formal park located in the center of one of Spartanburg’s older neighborhoods, Duncan Park provides both active and passive recreation facilities, including a large lake and former minor league stadium as its two biggest attractions.

This 102.53-acre community park includes mountain bike trails, the historic Duncan Park baseball stadium, a pond, walking trails, and much more.

The Paul M. Dorman High School multipurpose Arena and Football Stadium are among the best in the country for high schools and rivals those at many colleges. Featuring 10,000 seats, the stadium risers are cast-in-place concrete, on grade, with a grass bank for extra seating.

The Arena accommodates 3,000 spectators and only requires 14 rows of seating from the playing court. Site lines are therefore excellent, and special lighting provides coverage that is completely even in intensity. Special features include a sophisticated digital video-sound system for assemblies and concerts with excellent acoustics and a running track around the area’s upper perimeter.

Dorman High School 

Wofford College is a private liberal arts college in Spartanburg, South Carolina. It was founded in 1854. The historic 175-acre campus is a national arboretum and one of the few four-year institutions in the southeastern United States founded before the American Civil War that still operates on its original campus.

This campus sits on 600 acres of beautifully manicured greenspace - one of the largest corporate greenspaces in the Southeast and a nationally recognized arboretum – that was once a peach orchard. Milliken Arboretum does contain a system of official trails, but there are no trail maps at the parking area, and the trails often blend in with the large mown grass areas.

This course is located in Inman, SC, and was constructed in 2016 from a design by Russell Schwarz of Innova Disc Golf. This is a 27 hole grip-it and rip-it course that contains multiple tee pads and plays between 9,690-10,320 feet. The course has moderate elevation change and a nice mix of woods, open space, and water. This course requires lots of walking and is not recommended for beginners. Holston Creek Park is managed by the Spartanburg County Parks Department and also contains athletic fields, a playground, restrooms, picnic shelters, walking trails and a mountain bike course.

Holston Creek Park Disc Golf Course

This disc golf course has 18 holes, which plays at a distance of 4604 ft. from the short tees and 7095’ from the longs. It has open holes with a lot of elevation changes, but most of the course is played through the woods. Shoal Creek was recently reopened this year with some impressive course changes by Innovadisc golf. Harold Duval, the course designer, has said it is one of the best in the state. There is still more coming with the course: a staircase on the steep 7th hole, more course signage, seeding, and landscaping.

The Moo course is located in Cowpens, SC at the Timken Community Center and was constructed in 2020. The course gets its name from the USS Cowpens, often referred to as the “Mighty Moo”. The Moo is a tight and technical wooded course that utilizes 10 tee pads to 18 baskets to make 18 holes. This course is managed by the Spartanburg County Parks Department in partnership with the Town of Cowpens. The Timken Community Center also offers a playground, fitness center, event space, and computer lab.

This course is located in Spartanburg, SC at Old Canaan Road Park and was constructed in 2015 from a design by Russell Schwarz of Innova Disc Golf. The course gets its name from the large gas pipeline that dissects a hilly and heavily wooded property. This is an 18 hole course that plays at a distance of 6,289 feet. Old Canaan Road Park is managed by the Spartanburg County Parks Department and also contains athletic fields, a playground, restrooms, outdoor fitness equipment, and walking trails.

Pipeline Disc Golf Course

This course is located in Woodruff, SC at the Woodruff Leisure Center and was constructed in 2017. This course is heavily wooded with moderate elevation change. The 18 hole course is fairly short and technical with multiple tee pads and a distance of 4,701-5,044 feet. This course is managed by the Spartanburg County Parks Department in partnership with the City of Woodruff. The Woodruff Leisure Center also offers a playground, gymnasium, indoor fitness center, event space, walking trails, and outdoor fitness equipment.
