About Visit Rochester

Rochester is the third largest metropolitan area in New York State, located along the southern shore of Lake Ontario. It has a rich sports history at both the professional and amateur levels, with several teams calling the city home, including the Rochester Red Wings, Rochester Americans, Rochester Knighthawks and Flower City Union. The strength of our sports community is spread across our area's colleges, universities, high schools, sports clubs, and organizations, providing a solid variety of quality athletics for everyone to enjoy.

The Rochester NY Sports Commission works diligently to promote Monroe County through sports, highlighting the important impact athletics have on our community’s economic vitality and quality of life. The number of championships, invitationals, and competitions that Rochester hosts continues to grow annually, providing a tremendous economic boost and playing an essential part in our quality of life. We invite new and existing sports ventures to discover Rochester and Monroe County as a destination for their future events.
