The site of the city’s first reservoir (1874). Belknap Park was renamed in 1932 to honor Civil War veteran Capt. Charles Belknap. The park was further developed as part of a WPA project in the 1930s, and in the early 1960s, approximately 2 million cubic yards of earth were removed from the park and used for freeway construction through downtown. In the 1970s, Grand Rapids Project X, an earthwork sculpture created by artist Robert Morris, was cut into the hillside.

Belknap Park now is home to one of the best pickleball complexes in the Midwest with 21 beautiful courts, all free and open to the public.

**Emmy Award winner and two-time Grammy Award nominee David Cross is an acclaimed comedian, actor, writer, and producer whose work has left an impactful mark on television, film, and stand-up comedy. He is best known as the co-creator and star of the influential HBO sketch series *Mr. Show with Bob and David*, and for his iconic role of Tobias Fünke on the Emmy Award-winning series *Arrested Development*. Cross was also part of the ensemble cast of *The Ben Stiller Show*, earning an Emmy Award for writing early in his career.b**

**Cross has been performing stand-up comedy for over 40 years, and has released numerous critically acclaimed specials and albums including *Making America Great Again!* for Netflix, *Oh Come On*, *I’m From The Future,* and *The Pride Is Back*, which was highlighted by Rolling Stone as one of the 25 most important stand-up specials of all time, among multiple others.
