The park includes a large pond with walking trail, meandering walkways through the woods, a playground, and open space as well as a gazebo, picnic shelters and a spray park. A variety of classes and events are offered for both children and adults throughout the year. Dorey Park also has an off-leash dog park, 1 acre in size, with 6 foot enclosed fence with two areas: one for small dogs and the other for larger dogs. Dorey is connected to the Virginia Capital Trail! Guests on the Virginia Capital Trail can now venture nearly ¾ of a mile into Dorey Park. The trail now extends from the back of the park down to the recreation center. Test your skills at our 18 hole disc golf course! Dorey Park features approximately five miles of trails designed for horseback riding. A horse ring is available for public use during the week. Dorey Park is included in the Urban Trout Program of VDWF. The lake receives annual stockings of channel catfish. Dorey Park is open daily dawn until dusk. Dorey Recreation Center serves as a restroom facility and welcome area for the Dorey Park trail connector and the Henrico County portion of the Virginia Capital Trail. The center has visitor information and exhibits highlighting the park and Henrico history.

On May 28, 1864, Union and Confederate forces clashed around Enon Church in one of the fiercest cavalry battles of the Civil War. The seven hour battle, known as Haw’s Shop, erupted when horsemen from both armies collided while on reconnaissance in front of the main armies. After a brief fight on horseback, Confederate cavalry fell back west of the church and built fortifications to withstand the Union assaults. The sides battled indecisively for several hours before the arrival of General George Custer’s Union brigade turned the stalemate into victory. The fighting resulted in nearly 800 combined casualties.

The Richmond Tattoo & Arts Convention returns October 23-25, 2026, bringing together internationally celebrated artists, collectors, creators, and art enthusiasts for one of the most unique arts festivals in the country. Held at the DoubleTree by Hilton (1021 Koger Center Blvd), this three-day event transforms the venue into a vibrant gallery and creative marketplace where guests can experience world-class artistry up close.  
Hosted by internationally acclaimed tattoo artist Jesse Smith, Ink Master champion Ryan Ashley, and Loose Screw Tattoo, the convention welcomes more than 170 artists and 70 exhibitors from around the world. Many of these internationally recognized artists travel to Richmond exclusively for this event, making it a rare opportunity to meet them in person, watch them create live, purchase original artwork and collectibles, and, for those interested, receive a tattoo from some of the industry's most sought-after talent.
