The Corner Canyon Trail System is a fantastic recreational area near Salt Lake City that is mainly used for mountain biking but also allows foot traffic, dogs, and horseback riding. The trail system is butted up against the Wasatch mountains in the city of Draper in the southeast corner of the Salt Lake Valley. Tucked between developments is a free and wide open swath of doubletrack and singletrack to explore without having to leave the suburbs. With its low altitude, the riding season starts earlier and lasts longer than many Wasatch mountain biking trails. The average difficulty of the trails is moderate with a few more technical sections, meaning this is a place that everyone who loves to ride should try.

Corner Canyon Trail System

Featuring a David Graham/Gary Panks designed 18-hole champion-ship course, and state of the art driving range and putting greens; South Mountain offers a truly memorable experience. The Point Restaurant and Banquet facility, serving as the perfect place for your group event or tournament. South Mountain features an incredible blend of mountain and valley views, wildlife and scenery. A mountain links style course that has large undulating greens and dramatic elevation changes, South Mountain is a test for amateurs and professionals alike. With five tee boxes to choose from the golf course is an enjoyable experience for players of all skill levels.

**The Route**

A fairly short, easy hike in the Suncrest neighborhood, this trail affords spectacular views to both the Salt Lake valley and Utah County.

This out-and-back trail is good for families, bikes, and hikers of all expertise levels. There are hills, but they are navigable by most levels, the trail is wide and more like a jeep track for a good portion of the route, and dogs are welcome. The alien tower is a metal pyramid structure at the top of one of the small peaks, and gives the best views into both sides of the mountain.

**Insider's view:** An excellent hike nearly all-year round. Dogs are allowed.

**Safety information:** The foothills are home to wildlife. Watch for rattlesnakes, especially in summer months. Wear closed-toed shoes when hiking, and be aware of your surroundings. Make sure you stay hydrated.

**Roadbook**

Follow the trail to the west and south until it starts to curve back to the east. Take the smaller trail up the hill - look for the metal triangular structure at the top of the hill.

**How to Get There**

**Public transport:** Bus routes do not travel up to this trailhead - best access is by car.

**Parking:** Park on the street at the trailhead.

Boondocks Food & Fun! Exciting fun for everyone! Boondocks provides a variety of entertainment options that appeal to all ages and interests.

Boondocks Food & Fun - Draper

Easy out-and-back hike, with beautiful city and mountain views. This hike will take you to a suspension bridge spanning a pretty creek.

This trail is fairly well-trafficked, and is quite family friendly. The bridge, built in 2015, is 185 feet across Bear Canyon and connects two parts of the Bonneville Shoreline Trail (BST). An optional trail, starting on either side of the bridge, will take a short loop around the canyon and place you on the other side of the bridge. There are many other trail options in this area, so feel free to explore.

**Insider tip**: Good in any season, but bring Yaktrax or some other method to keep your shoes on the ice and snow in cold weather.

**Details**  
Once you park in the Hidden Valley Park lot, the trailhead is on the east end of the lot. Follow the trail markers for the Bonneville Shoreline Trail (BST) to the right (south). Keep on the BST until you reach the bridge. The optional Bear Canyon Loop can be accessed on the east side of the trail on either side of the bridge, and is well marked.

**Directions**  
Drive south on Interstate 15 to Exit 292 at 11400 South. Turn left on 11400 South, and drive for 1.9 miles until you reach 1700 East. Turn right and drive south to Wasatch Boulevard. Turn left and drive east on Wasatch Boulevard for 1.7 miles until you see the sign for Hidden Valley Park on your right.

Parking is free at the park and there are plenty of spaces.
