Ashton Creek Vineyard

Fort Wead was constructed in June of 1864 and named after Col. Frederick Wead of the 98th New York who was killed in action at Cold Harbor. The fort was built in the rear of the main Union defensive line to prevent Confederate forces from advancing in the event the main lines were captured. The site never saw any action. Sgt. Engle Park is named after Sgt. James E. Engle, of Company I, 97th Pennsylvania Volunteers. During a skirmish on May 18, 1864, Engle volunteered to carry ammunition from this area to soldiers at the front. He remained there, distributing ammunition under constant fire, for the rest of the day. Members of his regiment recommended him for the Congressional Medal of Honor, which he was awarded in 1896. These sites are located adjacent to one another. Today visitors can walk the sites and view the remnants of earthworks and a collapsed magazine.

Fort Wead and Sgt. Engle Park

This one-half acre park is located at the extreme end of South Taylor Street. Existing facilities include a picnic shelter, grill, tot lot playground, and one-half basketball court.

South Taylor Street Park

The first of its kind in Hanover, this one-acre dog park features a 6-foot fence, dog agility equipment, a time-out pen, waste stations, water station and benches. Well-behaved dogs and their owners are invited to exercise and socialize.

La Unica Latino Market

Eight acres in size, DeJarnette Park is located on Stony Run and is bordered by residential uses on both sides. Primary access to the park is at the end of Race Course Street. There is an alternate entrance but no parking at the end of Beverly Road. A one-acre pond underwent rehabilitation in 2006. Otherwise, the site remains largely in a natural state.

Taylor Park is a perfect spot for passive activities like kite flying, dog walking and enjoying a picnic. The Cannery is also located within the park complex. This park has one non-lighted multipurpose field, dog park, picnic shelter, playground, walking trails and the Taylor Complex with classrooms.

Podium’s Third Murder Mystery Dinner Theater Show will be hosted on Friday, October 23, 2026, from 6:30 - 9:30 pm. With rock and roll music and thick shakes, the Doo-Wop diner is the popular place to hang out in Ryedale. However, things aren't exactly rocking at the diner when Elvis is found outside, dead in the garbage! His death comes as a great shock to both the leather-clad G-birds and the pink-jacketed Fuchsia Girls. However, more shocks are to follow when the police arrive and announce that the killer is one of them!  
  
Enjoy an evening that takes us to the 1950's and to Mystery at the NewMarket Corporation. We encourage you to come dressed in theme, so dust off those poodle skirts and leather jackets. All materials needed and clues for the investigation will be given out during the show. You'll be able to graze throughout the night on dinner, dessert, and our open bar with a cocktail-style set-up. You'll also have the opportunity to bid in a silent auction & purchase raffle tickets for some fun prizes to your favorite spots in Richmond or maybe a vacation abroad. You can do all of this while simultaneously supporting those who need it most: underserved youth communities across Greater Richmond and the Tri Cities.
