Originally opened in 1901, Main Street Station has always been one of Downtown Richmond, Virginia’s most visible landmarks. Once a bustling transportation hub, the station was closed in 1975 due to a decline in passenger rail service. The historic reopening of Main Street Station in 2003 marked the culmination of years of renovation to this 102-year-old landmark, and the return of passenger train service to downtown Richmond.In the years to come, future upgrades to the station will integrate bus, trolley, airport shuttle, taxi and limousine services. As Main Street Station is further transformed into a significant multi-modal transportation center, it is once again ready to serve as a gateway to the City of Richmond and the metropolitan region. Main Street Station will showcase Richmond as a vibrant destination city.

Did you know that Richmond was the site of the very first trolley system in the world, dating back to 1888? Experience Richmond history in a classic trolley ideally suited for visitors and residents alike. Enjoy Richmond landmarks from the comfort of our enclosed, 20-person trolley. Relax on comfortable cushioned seats set in old-fashioned iron seat frames. Our intimate seating arrangement offers a unique and exciting way to experience the rich history of one of America’s oldest cities. Public historic tours are currently running Monday through Friday at 10:30a and Saturdays and Sundays at 11a, but please double check availability to be sure the tour is running as scheduled and there is space on board for your group! Price for adults is $45 each and seniors are $42 each. Children 4-14 is $30, and kids 3 and under are free. Reservations required. Please call 804.269.0075 to book. RVA Trolley

Dedicated to exploring the history and enduring impact of American racial slavery. Located at Main Street Station in Shockoe Bottom, it serves as a center for learning, reflection, and civic action rather than a traditional museum.

Shockoe Institute

Arrivals from the north include Washington, D.C.; Philadelphia; New York City; and Boston. From the south, arrivals include Raleigh, N.C.; Columbia, S.C.; Tampa, Fla.; and Orlando, Fla. Handicapped accessibility and bagging services are available at each.

The Richmond Slavery Reconciliation Statue completes the triangle of Richmond; the city of Liverpool, England; and the Republic of Benin, each of which played a prominent role in the slave trade. Three identical statues symbolize a commitment to new relationships based on honesty and forgiveness.

Eerie Nights is a theatrical story telling experience where guides in special effects make-up, period costume and in the character of a *Richmonder from the 1800's or 1920's* will lead you to several historic and haunted sites on our *walking* (or) *trolley* ghost tours. At each site they will tell tales of the history and paranormal activity associated with the location. Our tours are geared towards a **mature** audience but families are welcome.
