S’edav Va’aki Museum (SVM) is situated on an extraordinary archaeological site, where visitors can learn about the Ancestral Sonoran Desert People, known to archaeologists as the Hohokam, who lived in the Phoenix area and its surrounding regions. They have been intimately connected to the landscape, including irrigation canals and agricultural fields still visible behind the museum. The Akimel O'Odham, descendants of the people who lived at S'edav Va'aki, still live and thrive in the Phoenix area. Visitors can walk along a 2/3-mile outdoor trail exploring a prehistoric Va’aki (platform mound), a ballcourt, replica houses, and more. Our indoor exhibit galleries explore local archaeology and contemporary indigenous themes. SVM offers programming throughout the year, including, arts & crafts, lectures, and more. Our annual events, such as the Indian Market, Ancient Technology Day, and more, provide engaging experiences for all ages! Join S’edav Va’aki Museum in celebrating **International Museum Day**, with a day filled with educational family fun!

SVM is open from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, and we offer fun activities for audiences of all ages, which are included with general museum admission.  
  
Our fabulous Collections Staff will provide demonstrations on how we care for the items in our collection and why they are important from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. Learn how to care for a historic basket, learn why we track bugs found in the museum, and see archival photos of the S'edav Va'aki Museum's archaeological site.  
  
We will also offer crafts for the kids from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm, including making your own pinch pot, etching your own petroglyph, and coloring pages to take home.
