The Salt Lake County Ice Center is a year-round, indoor ice skating facility located just south of Murray Park. Offering public skating, hockey and skating programs, and private rentals. The County Ice Center was utilized as a practice venue, primarily for women's hockey, during the 2002 Olympic Winter Games.

The Mill Creek Pipeline ride is a Salt Lake City mountain biking favorite due to its easy accessibility, long riding season, and beautiful views. It climbs up Mill Creek Canyon, running on the hillside above the road. It’s southern exposure helps it stay dry early in the spring and late into the fall, and it is even rideable in parts of the winter. Likewise, the trail is very well shaded; the trees even create a tunnel effect in places, which makes it a nice option for hot summer days. When there is a break in the trees, you are rewarded with gorgeous views of the surrounding mountains and the Salt Lake Valley below. In general, the trail is relatively flat with a few good climbs and descents in the middle.

A steep, less-trafficked hike that makes for a great workout with an expansive view as a payoff at the end.

The Parley's Canyon Overlook Trailhead is relatively new, and many of the branching trails that start here are also new. The overlook is a minor peak that takes in views of the Salt Lake Valley to the west and Parley's Canyon to the east and south, and it can be reached by multiple routes. There are two main ridgeline routes and a third that follows a ravine between the other two, and many smaller trails, tracks, and deer paths that head up and around the mountain. The best track is to follow straight up one of the ridges. Short and steep, this is a good way to get the heart pumping. With a little more distance, can be combined with the Jack's Peak Trail for a 5 mile loop.

**Local's Recommendation:**This trail is quite steep and there is little shade cover, so this is best in spring or fall. Can be hiked in the winter with proper weather gear.

**Safety information:** As with any trail in the foothills, watch for rattlesnakes, especially in summer months. Wear appropriate footwear when hiking, be aware of your surroundings, and always look carefully before placing hands or feet. Be sure to stay hydrated.

**Roadbook**

Starting at the trailhead, follow the trail northeast from the parking area immediately follow the bend that turns right and up a small hill. At the top of the hill, turn left heading up the ridgeline. Follow the ridgeline to the peak overlooking the valley and the canyon.

**How to Get There**

**Public transport:** Bus routes do not travel up to this trail head - best access is by car.

**Directions:** If you follow online map directions they may not have the update to the new Scenic Drive portion. Get to 2962 Benchmark Drive, follow past 2962 and through the gates up the hill and to the end of Scenic Drive.

**Parking:** There is limited, free on-the-street parking at the trailhead.

Secluded in pine trees, The Hog Wallow Pub is located kitty-corner to the historic Old Mill ruin at the base of Big Cottonwood Canyon. It is the latest reincarnation of the oldest and most notorious bar in the Cottonwood Heights area. Established in 1947 by a returning World War II veteran who converted an abandoned Civilian Conservation Corps bunkhouse into an out-of-the-way watering hole he named "The Branding Iron". Over the years the bar has changed names a number of times most notably, The Wagon Wheel, Demete's, The Fox and Bottle Inn and D. J.'s Beer Garden. In 1997 the bar was transformed by Keith Biesinger, into The Hog Wallow Pub. Since it's opening, Hog Wallow has received a number of awards including: City Search's "Best Outdoor Bar," City Weekly's "Best Neighborhood Bar" and "Best Escape From Downtown," and Salt Lake Magazine's "Best Suburban Bar." Most recently 2010 City Weekly proclaimed us the "Best bar to find your fathers name carved in the ceiling" and in 2011 we received Salt Lake Magazine's Best of the Beehive award for "Best Patio." The MTNA National Competitions are some of the most successful and prestigious student classical music competitions in the country. Each year, thousands of students compete for top prizes and national recognition. The purpose of the Music Teachers National Association Performance competitions is to provide educational experiences for students and teachers and to recognize exceptionally talented young artists and their teachers in their pursuit of musical excellence. UMTA proudly hosts the state round of this competition in the recital hall of Steinway Piano Gallery in Holladay (4644 S. Holladay Blvd). The community is invited to attend these competitions at no cost. Winners of the competition will go on to the Southwest Division competition then Nationals in St. Louis, Missouri at the MTNA national conference. The competitions consist of a Piano Competition and Instrumental Competition each with Junior, Senior, and Young Artist Divisions.
