The Opelika Book Festival welcomes acclaimed author and television host John T. Edge on Thursday, Oct. 1, at 6:30 p.m. for a discussion of his memoir, “The House of Smoke.”

Edge is the host of the Emmy Award-winning series “TrueSouth” and founding director of the Southern Foodways Alliance. In “The House of Smoke,” he reflects on his upbringing and his evolving relationship with the South, exploring identity, history, food and place.

Tickets are $25 and include admission and a signed copy of “The House of Smoke.” Following the program, Edge will be available to personalize books and take photos with guests.
