The Sports & Events Authority promotes and sells the Mitchell community, its facilities and accommodations to the sports and events marketplace for the purpose of bringing a variety of events to Mitchell, in order to improve the quality of life in the Mitchell region and to further the Mitchell economy.

The Sports & Events Authority Advisory Committee reviews funding applications from organizations that are interested in bringing new events, or expanding existing events in the Mitchell community; focusing on those events that will increase overnight hotel stays in the Mitchell community.

Meetings are typically held on the second Tuesday of the month at 2pm in City Hall - Council Chambers.

The Corn Palace is open year-round and is free to visit. Our peak season is from Memorial Day through Labor Day. When you come during this time, you truly see the Corn Palace come to life as it is redecorated with new corn, grain and grass to showcase a new theme. During the summer months the Corn Palace offers free guided tours led by friendly guides full of "a-maize-ing" facts, like how many nails and staples are used in the decoration process. The tour also features an outstanding video explaining the Corn Palace Story. After the tour you can view displays about the Corn Palace, how the murals are created, souvenirs and entertainment from the past, and how the corn is grown.

Today, the Corn Palace is more than the home of the festival or a point of interest of tourists. It is a practical structure adaptable to many purposes. Included among its many uses are industrial exhibits, dances, stage shows, meetings, banquets, proms, graduations arena for Mitchell High School and Dakota Wesleyan University as well as district, regional and state basketball tournaments.

Welcome to the Lake Mitchell Campground located on the shores of Lake Mitchell.

Lake Mitchell Campground is a family camping center overlooking Lake Mitchell with fishing, swimming, canoes, pedal boats, a pontoon boat, a playground, a hiking trail, a bike trail, and a laundry facility. The campground includes 48 RV campsites with hookups and 9 Tent sites. 

Full hookups include water, sewer and electricity (see map for sites with full hookups). RV sites have either 50-amp or 30-amp power available; some tent sites have electricity available as well. 

First-come, first-served sites are available daily but not guaranteed. Self-pay system is utilized for first-come, first-served (cash, check, or debit/credit card). 

Campground hosts are available to assist campers during the summer months.

Online reservations are available. Online reservations are not available within 48 hours of arrival. If you plan on arriving in the next 48 hours, first-come first-served sites might be available; please check today's current availability in person at the campground.
