Apalachee Regional Park has been the host site of the FSU Invitational since 2009. This marks the 15th consecutive year it has been designated the Pre-State meet. While the bulk of the fi eld is comprised of Florida high school teams, the meet is NFHS-sanctioned and open to all of its members and affiliates in good standing, as well as all middle schools and middle school-aged clubs (grades 6-8). Neither Visit Tallahassee, nor Florida State University is responsible for enforcing competition restrictions in place from specific states or schools.

The Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) presents the 2026 Men's and Women's Cross Country Championship, a premier collegiate running event bringing together top athletes from 12 HBCU institutions. Set against the scenic backdrop of Apalachee Regional Park in Tallahassee, Florida, this October 27 championship features elite competition across both men's and women's divisions. Fans can watch live action on SWAC TV or follow results online. The 2026 NCAA D1 South Region Cross-Country Championships bring collegiate distance runners from FAMU, FSU, UF, and more than 30 NCAA schools to Apalachee Regional Park in Tallahassee on November 13, 2026. Hosted by Apalachee Regional Park Cross-Country Running Course, the meet features a women’s 6K championship race at 8:30 AM followed by a men’s 10K championship race at 9:30 AM, with athletes competing for a place at the National Championships in Terre Haute, Indiana. The course opens at 6:30 AM.

The National Collegiate Athletic Association is a member-led organization dedicated to the well-being and lifelong success of college athletes.  More than 500,000 college athletes across all three divisions compete for about 1,100 member schools in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and even Canada. Regardless of where they start, student-athletes strive to end each season at one of the NCAA’s 90 championships in 24 sports.

The PING Invitational returns to the Seminole Legacy Golf Club in Tallahassee, Florida, October 9–12, 2026. This prestigious AJGA Invitational brings together the top junior golfers aged 12–19 for a fiercely competitive 54-hole stroke-play tournament. Hosted at a championship-caliber course with a 72.0 rating, the event offers a high-stakes platform for rising talent to showcase their skills and vie for national recognition. Sponsored by PING and Rolex, it’s a key stop on the junior golf calendar and a stepping stone for college recruitment.

The PING Invitational

The American Junior Golf Association is a 501(c)(3) non-profit association dedicated to the overall growth of young men and women who aspire to earn college golf scholarships.  With over 10,000 members ages 12-19 from 50 states and 60 foreign countries, the AJGA will conduct over 250 championships this year from January to December.  Each year AJGA seniors secure more than $26 million dollars in athletic and academic scholarships from participating in the AJGA. Through initiatives like the Liberty National Achieving Competitive Excellence (ACE) Grant, a financial assistance program, and Leadership Links, a service-oriented platform that teaches juniors charitable-giving skills, the AJGA fosters the growth of golf’s next generation. AJGA is open to explore new opportunities domestically and internationally. At this time, there is a strong priority to bring new events to the Western Region.


American Junior Golf Association (AJGA)

The Canopy Roads Classic is a USA Gymnastics-sanctioned invitational meet hosted in Tallahassee, Florida. The event is designed primarily for Levels 1–5 and Xcel gymnasts, providing an early-season competitive experience in a supportive environment where athletes can demonstrate skills, gain competition experience, and build confidence. The meet is listed on the Florida USA Gymnastics competition calendar and is hosted by Trousdell Gymnastics Center.  The Canopy Roads Classic is intended to:

* Provide a positive competitive experience that encourages athlete growth and sportsmanship.
* Promote skill development by giving gymnasts an opportunity to perform routines under competition conditions.
* Build confidence through participation, recognition, and achievement at all levels.
* Support athlete progression by helping gymnasts prepare for future invitational, state, and championship competitions.
* Foster teamwork and camaraderie among athletes, coaches, clubs, and families.
* Celebrate participation and excellence by recognizing individual and team accomplishments.
* Create a welcoming environment that emphasizes enjoyment of the sport while maintaining high standards of organization and safety.

Overall, the Canopy Roads Classic aims to combine quality competition with a family-friendly atmosphere that promotes athlete development, encourages positive experiences, and strengthens the gymnastics community.

Canopy Roads Classic

This multi-use park includes one of the nation’s few sites designated specifically for cross country running. This trail is a pristine, multi-surface course that can host running events of all sizes. The facility features numerous course/distance options through the rolling hills, lowlands and pine forests. The trail was designed to give runners the opportunity to run on several types of surfaces. When the trail is not being used for a running event, it is open to the general public for hiking, running and biking. The park includes four multi-purpose grass fields with American football field goals, two of which are lighted.  These fields are also used for soccer and lacrosse. The parking area can accommodate more than 3,500 vehicles at one time. Additionally, the park has a remote control airplane and helicopter airfield. The park has hosted the Florida High School Athletic Association Cross Country Championships, the Florida State University Cross Country Invitational, the NCAA Regional Cross Country Championships, Pop Warner Football and the Florida State Invitational Soccer Tournament.
