We’re a community of runners, hikers, bikers and ballplayers. We’re an outdoor playground, designed by Mother Nature, with class III and IV rapids running right through our downtown. A 52-mile bike trail runs along the James. The Richmond Marathon and Ukrop’s 10k are huge celebrations, and the whole region comes out to cheer on our local teams. In fact, we’re so sports-minded that the Washington Redskins have their training camp right in the center of the city. In not really now not anymore, Frances Adair Mckenzie weaves a landscape of synthetic warmth and gridded architecture . Moving through the constant hum of containment, the installation treats thermal exhaust as a quiet gravity, an invisible force drawing swarming life toward computational heat.  
  
​A custom animation rig mounted on the ceiling holds a figure suspended in perpetual free fall. A state between weightlessness and collision. A central animated figure speaks directly to a floor-mounted stereoscopic camera, delivering an intimate monologue that navigates the threshold where physical mass is translated into data.  
  
​Through filtered light, malleable skins, and low-fi mechanics, Mckenzie resists the myth of the weightless virtual. The work lingers in the heat of archival depositories, asking what language, trapped memory speaks and what slips away when living forms are held in static preservation.
